Bob Otterman
Dear Representative Otterman:
A new study published
by the American Psychological Association and heralded in a press release dated
children were as well-adjusted as intact family children on the same measures,
said Bauserman, `probably because joint custody provides the child with an
opportunity to have ongoing contact with both parents.' "
With studies like
this coming out on a regular basis, is it not about time that the judges in
domestic courts start to show some respect to fathers and stop denying them
their rights as a parent. On a regular basis, fathers are told that they can
only see their children on a limited basis. Temporary and permanent custody is
regularly granted to mothers with no proof that this is what is best for the
children involved. A criminal must be proved guilty before sentencing can take
place and his rights are denied but a father is presumed guilty as soon a
divorce is filed.
The Fourteenth
Amendment to the Constitution gives all persons equal rights under the law
regardless of sex, color or religion. When are
Even our state
supreme court refuses to respect fathers. Justice Pfeifer in a recent case
heard before the court referred to Shared Parenting as "mostly for the benefit
of cocktail hour, where you can say you have shared parenting where in reality
mom's taking care of the kids and father, if he doesn't have a golf game, shows
up and spends some time." I say shame on you Justice Pfeifer. You are supposed
to uphold the laws of this land including the 14th Amendment.
We are fighting an
uphill battle that we should not have to fight. Fighting for our kids' best
interest, while fighting our "X", AND fighting our courts continual
bias against Dads! But, fight we must ... even though we know our chance of
winning is slim! According to the National Census Bureau 14% of Dads win
custody, 13% of those are uncontested, leaving Dads to realize 1% of Dads win
contested Custody. These numbers alone shown the bias exists.
Fathers are banding
together to fight this bias. It is time that our rights are recognized. It is
time that the lawmakers of this land start to change this situation and respect
the large number of their constituents that are in this position. Do not sit
back and let our children be destroyed by judges and laws that do not respect
them and what is really best. We need your support to get this changed before
more damage is done to our most precious resource, our children.
Sincerely,
Ray Lautenschlager
